About Us

Hello, my name is Marie Driskill and stitching has been my passion almost all my life. I have always loved designing my own pieces, and my friends urged me to share my designs with the world. Thus, Blackberry lane Designs was born in 2008.

My Father was in the military and met my Mother while stationed in France, my birth place. I was raised in Virginia where I met my husband and happily took on the roles of wife, homemaker, and Mother. My family loves the historic areas of Yorktown, Colonial Williamsburg, the old plantations, and the proximity of the beaches and the mountains.

I learned to stitch by watching my Mom and Aunts sew originally embellished garments, and they happily took time to teach me their craft. Working with a sewing machine did not attract me as much as the beautifully creative hand work. Thus, a life long stitcher was born. It became my passion at a very young age. I stitched waiting for the school bus, riding to and from church, lunch at work, waiting at the Doctor’s office, and on and on. I always have had something with me to stitch. Appreciation of the art, beauty, and hard work in creating needlework is a skill I hope will be passed on to my descendents to come.
